Monticello

If you put your mouse over each photo on the slide show, you will see a brief description of what the photo is. *Not all photos have a description though.

After a 2 week study on the Life of Thomas Jefferson, friend, Laura and I took our children to Charlottesville to visit the grand estate of Monticello. My sister, being the history buff that she is, came along as well.

It started out iffy as it was raining here. The weather cleared up and we were actually able to have a very nice tour of the house and grounds.

Although we spent 2 weeks looking at his life, that really wasn't enough. Thomas Jefferson was a remarkable man in so many different hours. Looking at the museum, we saw several different journals that he kept. He would actually wake up each day to record the temperature in his bed room as well as outside his room.

To be able to go and see a piece of history like that gives me goose bumps. We live within driving distance of so many historical areas that are often over looked.

We are currently planning trips to D.C. and to Colonial Williamsburg.

Be sure to check the 2 posts previous to this one. I've been updating this morning while the girls are sleeping in.
