On Sat., we took a family trip to Costco. I was amazed at the amount of people there. Jay and I were wondering why it was so crazy busy there. It wasn't until we caught the weather forecast that we understood why. Anytime the word "snow" is mentioned in central VA, everyone heads to the grocery store for the staple products like milk, bread, etc. It is great for business but a little unnecessary.
Ok, so they were calling for snow. At first, it was just a dusting. Then the weatherman changed his mind and started talking inches.
When we left for church yesterday at 4:20, it was starting to sleet. As we drove farther south to church, it changed to rain. My sister texted me "It's snowing". Not where we were. She ended up sending me 2 photo texts. That and a call from my father in law had be believing that we would see snow. It sleeted 3/4 of the time in church and by the time we were dismissed at 7 p.m., it was snowing. The children were having a blast in the parking lot but we hurried up and headed for home. The roads were progressively worse the closer we got to home. The 30 minute drive was extended to almost an hour and the roads were very slick. We were slipping and sliding and saw many, many cars in ditches. Thank the Lord, we made it home safe and sound.
Here's Jay's car as we got home.
The girls were ill prepared to play in the snow but that didn't stop them.
They were soaked head to toe by the time they came in.
Here's the picturesque view I awoke to.
You can see how much it snowed over night as the girls had cleared the end of the deck railing before coming inside.

Last night, Rebecca was bummed because everyone else gets a snow day and she still had to do school. I allowed the girls to sleep in and play in the snow this morning. I really didn't want to do school today but didn't let them know that. When Jay said he didn't have to go in, I called it an official snow day for us. They were very pleased!
