Memorial Day at Colonial Williamsburg

In making our own family traditions, we have visited Colonial Williamsburg on Memorial Day two years running. Most people celebrate the day sleeping in, catching up on things around the house, and cook outs. It's amazing thinking back to why we have Memorial Day. It is for those who have fought and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We love listening to the Fife and Drums and following them as they make their procession around the colonial area of Williamsburg.

The girls are posing with a Chinese rooster.
This rooster was unbelievably soft and fluffy.

I just love this home. It is a favorite of mine to walk past. There is an ever flowing creek that flows underneath it. I can just picture myself listening to that at night as I go to sleep. I love the grounds that surround this house as well. It's off the beaten path of the main area.

This guy was standing outside the theater just playing along.
The girls and Jay had gone in to see the play showing but since we had Rosie, I opted to sit out and enjoy the music and scenery. I pulled out the blanket I had, opened my book and enjoyed the beautiful day.

Here's Rosie, my ferocious dog at 7 lbs., as she relaxes in the grass with me while the others are at the theater.
