Coming into the 21st centry

In a previous post on March 1st, I had told you about the remodeling that was to be done in our church. I have been slow on showing you the progress.

Above is a picture I took before anything started to take place. Notice the dark paneling walls, carpet, lights...

Here is another before picture of the sanctuary facing the back. That room you see is the sound room. If you take a look, you'll see a door at the top with nothing. Just a drop. That door always cracks me up. It has been used for spotlights during plays and other productions.
Here is a photo taken about a month ago. It shows that they have covered the paneling with sheet rock and painted it white. They also added the bottom part of the wall to match the ends of the pews and wall in front of the choir. They have also changed the doors out leading to the choir area but I don't have a photo of those.
This week, the walls and ceilings will get painted as well as new carpet put in. After church, many men got to work and moved all the pews out into the gym- not an easy task if you ask them!- pulled up the carpet, padding and took off the window treatments.
Here is a photo taken tonight. They are pulling up 25 year old carpeting and padding. Here, Joey is getting up the wood that was glued to the floor for the carpet tacking.
It's so nice to see these men pull together and get it done quickly!
Here is a picture of the new sound booth. It is located on the balcony and looks pretty cool. I haven't been up there because really, I have no place going up there.
The photo above shows you a decent idea of the new lights. The chandeliers are beautiful. I can't wait to see what the window treatments will be like.
This is just photo taken from another angle. That padding had 25 years of dirt. It was quite dusty in there when the folks started pulling that up!
We will have service in the gym this Wed. and next Sunday. That should be interesting. It will be nice to see the final results. I can't wait to see it completed and take more pictures for you.
And do you want to know the best part? All of this is being done without borrowing any money. God is so good!
