Rebecca and Emily have both completed their books!!! This is a huge accomplishment! I cannot begin to tell you of the joy and yes, pride that I have in our girls.
Emily is now working on a separate workbook. In the workbook, she has 20 sections to complete. It is a mixture of scripture memorization and activities. It'll be fun and she'll earn her second Sparky pin.
Rebecca is going back through the book and doing the silver and gold sections for each Discovery. There are 8 Discoveries. Silver sections review the verses, questions and answers learned in each discovery and add 4 new verses to learn to go with the theme of that Discovery. Gold sections are some sort of project. There are 2 gold projects for each Discovery. The first of Discovery 1 gold's projects is to write a paragraph on 3 Bible characters including their parenting style. She chose Hannah, Jochebed and Abraham. The second thing Rebecca has to do is to make a family newspaper. She has been working on this for several weeks now. She'll turn it in this Sunday. All that's left is to type it up, put pictures to it and print it off. We've asked her daddy to help with that portion of it since I'm unfamiliar with Publisher. She'll share it on her blog after it's completed.
There is a theme for each week at Awana. This week was Affliction day and the children were to dress up as if they were afflicted- hence the bandages, black eye and brace. Rebecca also had her left arm bandaged up and Emily had 2 fingers taped together. That was as far as they wanted to dress up so we didn't go overboard this time.
Awana is a great program for those children who are being raised in Christian homes as well as being an outreach to the lost in the area. We have several children come to Awana that do not go to church anywhere. These children are being witnessed to, giving their hearts to Jesus and learning scripture about how they are to live in ways that is relevant to them as children. Great program! 2 Timothy 2:15
